How to make a Booty with Disc Dyes by Emily

Are you ready to dive into the world of disc dyeing with a twist? Today, we’ve got a special treat for you as guest dyer Emily from Disc Dyes by Emily shares her unique process for creating her signature “booty dyes!”

From start to finish, you’ll get an inside look at her creative techniques that are as fun as they are effective. You don’t need fancy tools or expensive gear to achieve amazing results—Emily’s approach proves that anyone can create stunning dyes with just a few simple supplies.

So get your butt into gear and start dyeing!

Step 1:

Get a dyeable disc, blank whites are recommended. You can see what disc plastic takes dyes here.

Step 2:

Draw your booty. Trace with graphite on the back side. Align your image, tape the paper to the disc, and rub the lines of the image like a transfer onto the disc.

Step 3:

Paint your image. I use dye mixed with denatured alcohol and hand paint with a brush.

Step 4:

Make a clear glue bed! I started with stripes. Watch this video to learn more about clear glue beds.

Step 5:

Shake/Rotate the pan in circles so the colors begin to swirl into a whimsical design. You can go back in and blow the glue around and use toothpicks for more intricate swirl details. Check out more patterns you can make here.

Step 6:

Ta Da! Enjoy your new butt! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
