Dye-a-Thon – June 2024

🔥 Dyers, get ready for the June Dye-a-Thon! 🔥

This month’s theme is “Less is More”. It’s all about restraint, open space, and letting the natural disc really shine through. Go minimalist with splashes of color, show off that negative space artistry, and prove that sometimes less really is more!

👨‍⚖️ The Rules
1) Theme: “Less is More“ – Only dye 50% of the disc – the other 50% must stay the original plastic color!
2) Limitation: None, anything goes!

🥏 How to Participate
1) Dye your creation, following the theme.
2) Post a comment on this June Dye-a-Thon thread below ⬇️.

📆 Deadline
June 30th, 11:59 PM CST

🏆 The Prize
One lucky winner will receive an “Emergency Dye Kit” filled with exciting surprises!

But that’s not all! Join us on Thursday, June 19th, at 8 PM CST for a live dyeing session. Tune in, ask questions, and immerse yourself in the creative process with us.

Let’s make this season extra-green-ary with a burst of vibrant colors. Happy dyeing! 🎨

  1. I did this R-Pro pig. It was fun experimenting with this method. I may try some more in the future. And I think there’s enough original disc color in the log to cover for the bit of leakage at the top. 😂😂

  2. My kids are all about the simple dyes right now thankfully. I did the poop emoji for my son because he just thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world (he’s 7 so go figure lol)

  3. This is my take on “Less is more” I used glue masking to create the absent spaces for sky and water for my 50% not dyed, and used only two colors together in layers for my 50% dyed. This disc was all hand painted and quite the challenge, especially keeping the glue mask from washing away in-between hand painted layers. I was hoping to create a tranquil, misty, waterfall scene.

  4. Half oni mask done with hot dip and lotion hand painting. Originally white metal flake c-line PD (Lone Howl 3)

  5. Was asked to do another one of these for a guy graduating, so I did what I do and made another dye for someone that is happy with the outcome. A happy person makes me happy.

  6. First ever dye job. Stenciled hot dip on a Blue Neutron Detour. Created the stencil from 3 different AI generated images that were reworked because none of there were good enough on their own. Added the MVP logo as a final touch.
