The Upcycled Disc Challenge is part of our monthly Dye-a-Thon series — and this one’s all about Earth Day and sustainability.
Your challenge? Take a used disc and turn it into functional dyed art. Think wall clocks, planters, trophies, and more — the more creative and purposeful, the better!
Entries must include both a dye job and a functional transformation of a used disc.
Challenge Opens: April 1st, 2025 @ 12:00 AM CST
Final Day to Enter: April 30th, 2025 @ 11:59 PM CST
Voting Period: April 1st – April 30th (vote once per day)
Livestream + Winner Reveal: May 6th, 2025 @ 8:00 PM CST
Find a used disc. You must start with a disc that has been previously owned, played with, or found secondhand.
Dye the disc. Show your style, skill, or creativity — any dye technique is allowed.
Repurpose it. Your dyed disc must be transformed into something functional (examples: clock, mirror, wall decor, planter, trophy, etc.).
Post it to Instagram with the hashtag #DyersGuildEarthDay2025 to enter.
All entries must be posted publicly to Instagram with the correct hashtag. If your account is private, we won’t be able to see your post!
Voting will be hosted through Woobox and open to the public.
Voters can vote once per day for the entire month of April.
Participants are encouraged to share their entries and voting link to gain support!
Winners will be determined by Community Vote and a Judge’s Pick announced during our livestream.

International winners will receive up to $10 USD toward shipping costs. Any shipping costs beyond that will be the winner’s responsibility.
U.S.-based winners will receive their prizes at no cost
You may enter more than once, but each entry must be a unique creation.
Entries must be posted during the contest period to be eligible.
Dyers Guild may share submitted images on social media and in our livestream.
Any form of cheating or vote manipulation will result in disqualification.
