I made a custom stencil inspired by Chainsordye. Hot dip for the black, shaving cream for the gradient, and lotion for the line work. I haven’t really used SC much but the little I had done left a bad impression. However I couldn’t think of a better way to get the gradient I wanted. To ensure good saturation I wanted to use Heat like I normally do but was worried about the SC drying out. To resolve that I stacked another cake pan on top of the one with the disc for a makeshift Dutch oven hoping to retain moisture… Read more »
This was a commission for a friend that didn’t know what he wanted. He just said colorful. The River is dyed using all lotion. I used 2 techniques that I’m refining. 1. A custom jig I made from a sheet of thin polystyrene. I use straight lotion to ‘caulk’ all the seems of the jig to the pan so nothing leaks. 2. I thinned lotion with water to the point it self levels and then mixed it like floetrol. Careful pour then swirl the pan and into the dehydrator.
Streamline Drift….Golf Ball the magic is in the stencil but also having the grey shade (shaving cream). Further, the right font and size and yes it’s on warp from cricut express. Thanks to Marko for plucking this stencil from the web. ⛳️
Bears and Boys….commission for an associate of mine. The green field was imperfect as planned. The stencil was so thin but it held up.
Drippy Vader V2! Creation video pinned to my profile. Warning: may cause seizures
Spitefire chopper, DA shading and lotion painting 🙂
This is on a Kastaplast Idog. Stencil with cell bed. Da for shading the outside.
And Dyes inspired me to try this one. Hand drawn stencile that I digitized and refined. Then dyed with acetone to get the gradient not in the middle portion. Next was the hot dip and finally the middle was acetone and cotton swabs and patience.
Innova Mako3 dyed with hot dip for the blacks, lotion for the MTV logo and shaving cream for the back ground. The pattern in the logo I did by distributing dots of lotion in different colors until it was all filled in.
This little dude is the best trip guide you’ve ever seen. It’s adventure time.
Dyed on a Lat64 Project Grip Explorer. Mix of lotion painting and DA painting. I also used a acetone pen for some of the black around the backpack and for his eyes. No hot dip was used for this stencil.
This is an example of the shaving cream gradient I’ve been working on….its hard to get a complete even blend but when you add a design over it, things finish well. Went with a clear glue for the over the top action and I hate stamps And take pics outside !!!. 🤠
Buzzzsaw….the possibilities with white foil!!! FORE !🤠
Crystal sparkle cicada. Hand painted with acetone and DA. I find acetone works much better on the clear champion style plastic
She basic but she purty.
This was the first time I used denatured alcohol for a stencil, I’ve been too scared to before… Dang it’s so much faster than line painting lotion x)
Glue beds for the rest.
This is what happens when you take a dyer and send them on a trip where they can’t dye but still has a bunch of free time so they make designs that cause one to question their sanity. The actual designs were a lot of fun to come up with and I just had to put them on a disc. A LOT of weeding, multiple hot dips, and one forgotten glue mask (🤷🏼♂️) later we have these two dyes. But now everyone can know that hot dipping neon key lime over neon cerise pink will give you UV reactive brown.
Red Hot Foils…Dave let’s do a tutorial! 🤠
Unown Dyes back again with a few lotion dye pieces! Honeycombs on a Mega-Glo Buzzz Saw was a no brainer! The sunflower is on a Planty Wild Homey from Clash discs, and man, are these things clearer than crystal! They’re a ton of fun for stained glass pieces if you’re ever in need of something completely see-through. Hope you guys are having an awesome and fun summer!
